Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek made the following statements on his twitter account on the growth figures.
''Despite challenging global and domestic backdrop, the Turkish economy has expanded 3.8% year-on-year in the second quarter.
Full year growth looks set to stay above 4%. Net exports were a massive drag, shaving 6.3 percentage points of real GDP growth in the second quarter.
This indicates that sustaining monetary policy tightening and fiscal consolidation remain essential for the foreseeable future.
Macro-financial stability remains our top priority in the short-run.''
